What is your Motivation (And How to Keep it)

Posted by sensei-nick | Posted in Martial Arts Business Tips, Martial Arts Marketing | Posted on 07-06-2011

0

A seemingly simple question to answer, but whatever your motivation to train is, it must be more compelling than distractions that will dissuade you from your fitness commitment. Maybe you want to be the best fighter in the world, or your grandfather died of a young age due to his weight, you were mugged or picked on as a child. There could also be positive motivations: the quest to be the best that you can be, to stay in or get in great shape, for the enjoyment of training, stress relief, competition with others and yourself. Unless your motivation is harmful to others, there is no right or wrong reason to train, as long as it keeps you working out and improving yourself – it’s good.

Choosing the right school

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is more than just a sport; it’s a way of life. Therefore, choosing a school at which
to embark on your jiu-jitsu journey shouldn’t be taken lightly. The ‘gentle art’ promotes physical fitness,
self confidence, discipline, friendship and comroderie, and where you do your training will affect all of
these aspects greatly.

How much Weight is the Right Weight?

When people embark on a resistance training regiment, whether it be with Kettlebells, Free Weights, Machines and the like; itʼs difficult to discern what weight to start at. Itʼs always better on the side of caution. Start with lighter weights and build up from there. The amount of weight versus repetitions & sets depends on your goal.
